This 5-day safari combines the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest National Park with the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

You’ll spend extended time with both chimpanzees and mountain gorillas — learning, observing, and photographing them as they go about their daily routines — guided by expert researchers and trackers. This is one of the most immersive wildlife adventures Uganda has to offer!

🗓 Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Pick-up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala.

Begin your scenic 5–6-hour drive to western Uganda, passing through lush tea plantations and rolling hills.

Stop for lunch in Fort Portal, a beautiful town at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Arrive at Kibale Forest National Park, home to 13 primate species, including the largest population of chimpanzees in Uganda.

Check-in at your lodge and relax for the evening.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale

Early breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a briefing.

Join researchers and rangers as you enter the forest for the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience — spend up to 4 hours following wild chimpanzees as they are accustomed to human presence.

Learn about their behavior, communication, and social structures while photographing them in their natural habitat.

Return to your lodge for relaxation or an optional nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing through the beautiful Kigezi Highlands — known as the “Switzerland of Africa.”

Lunch en route in Kabale or Kisoro.

Arrive in the southern sector of Bwindi (Rushaga/Nkuringo) in the evening, check-in at your lodge, and prepare for your next big adventure.

Day 4: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi

Early breakfast followed by a short drive to the park headquarters for a briefing.

Set off with researchers and guides for the Gorilla Habituation Experience, where you’ll spend up to 4 unforgettable hours observing a gorilla family being habituated.

Witness their behavior, feeding, and interactions while learning about conservation efforts.

Return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxed evening or an optional community visit to the Batwa people.

Day 5: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.

Stop for lunch in Mbarara and take photos at the Equator.
